Visiting the Hebrew Arabic kindergarten in Jerusalem

posted: March 08, 2015

Every now and then I get an invitation that excites me above all others. Such was the invitation from two teachers (a Muslim from East Jerusalem and a Jewish Israeli) to visit the bilengual kindergarten in Jerusalem.

I have been unaware of the existence of that school (which teaches kids from kindergarten to 12 grade) until some months ago when a classroom in it was burnt by some extreme right wing Israelis. So two weeks ago on a Friday morning I drove to Jerusalem and met a wonderful small community of kids and parents both from West and East Jerusalem, who worked together enthusiastically, politely and happily.

Makes you think how simple everything could be...
